More about Visovac

Visovac – a small island in the midst of the emerald Krka River – has for centuries been the heart of Franciscan spirituality and one of the most beautiful sacred jewels of Croatia. Surrounded by water and cliffs, since 1445 it has preserved the miraculous image of Our Lady of Grace, housed a living Franciscan novitiate, and safeguarded the treasures of its library, archive, and museum, which bear witness to the turbulent history of our people.

"Look at him from above and walk down to him – honoring him!"
Ivan Aralica
